In 2018, 2017 technologies will continue to rise in ever more varied and innovative contexts. And, which are those technologies? Know here.
The Blockchain specialists recognize that, despite its disruptive potential, the lack of regulation is slowing down its expansion. While waiting for a regulatory framework, we could well see the private Blockchains limited to a community and for specific uses such as:
– Securing the data collected and processed, in order to fight against piracy of connected objects, by time stamping equipment and their connections to the networks
– Authentication of official documents. The Blockchain can be used to analyze the information in the document and check it without having to contact the associated institutions.
– Trace-ability of objects and products in the agri-food sector or for example in the luxury industry

Artificial Intelligence is combined with deep learning and will automate voice recognition, translation or pattern recognition, opening the field of applications possible. In a survey conducted by Accenture in 2017, 85% of executives said they would invest in AI-related technologies in the next three years.
Chatbots platforms will continue to impose themselves by integrating more complex features and services, which will adapt to the individual. They will become bots that will allow new experiences, more entertaining and able to offer commercial offers depending on the profile of the user. We will move from conversational platforms to experiential platforms.
As a logical consequence of these technologies, we will see innovations in 2018 that will reinforce them or accelerate their development. For CIOs, all these technical bricks also represent real opportunities to innovate, forge strong partnerships with the trades to transform the user experience.
Smart apps and analytics
From 2018, applications will integrate more and more layers of artificial intelligence, followed by data analysis that will also integrate knowledge. Thanks to machine learning coupled with data mining techniques, intelligent analytics will automate the organisation, analysis, and presentation of data-sets, to be distributed in a structured and targeted manner.
Connected objects will become intelligent through the combination of AI and Machine Learning to better interact with individuals and environments. Gartner even predicts that eventually, these objects will work together, in an “autonomous” way. Unsurprisingly, it is the military field that is at the forefront of this topic, paving the way for more commercial applications. For 2018, Gartner analysts forecast 11.2 billion smart devices.
By combining augmented reality with virtual reality, mixed reality offers opportunities for unprecedented immersive experiences, the use of which will intensify by bringing the real world and the virtual world closer together. For example, being able to put on a headset and enter a virtual meeting room with colleagues from all over the world despite the distance between us, while still being able to use real-world tools like your computer and your phone.
The training will also be a significant playground of mixed reality that will bring models to life for surgeons in the making or teach public transport drivers to adopt the right reflexes by experimenting with complex driving environments.
Everything as a service
The use of service platforms will increase in 2018. “The logic of marketplace comes up quite often, and this positions IT as a valuable resource and more like a cost center,” says François-Xavier Leroux Director of Deloitte Digital. This trend confirms once again the necessary transformation of the ISD towards a logic of service innovation.
That being said, we also need to keep in the viewfinder the technologies that are not yet mature but deserve to be observed for their potential for disruption. Even if they do not see the day in 2018, their experiments are on the other hand mainly advanced to date.
For many connected devices – like drones, autonomous vehicles that will use artificial intelligence and require real-time processing – sending data to the servers will not be viable. Many of these devices will, therefore, need to locally process the information to use on their own embedded algorithms and perform the associated actions.
The dark analytics
The significant progress made in artificial intelligence and in-depth learning tools will allow the analysis of unstructured data stored in archives, in text files, sounds, images, and videos that we did not necessarily know how to exploit.
This terminology brings together all the emerging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence of the future, augmented robotics, synthetic biology, nanotechnologies, quantum technologies, etc. It will soon be possible to produce alcohols for fuels from underwater algae (experiments are already underway at Total). Energy storage is another example that could change traditional business models.
