Facebook adopts War Room Strategy ahead of Brazil Elections

Facebook’s war room ahead of the Brazilian Presidential Election looks like the appropriate strategy for image cleansing. The Social Networking Website was on the receiving end after the news of the U.S.

Presidential Elections being influenced spread like wildfire. However, Facebook does not want to repeat the same mistake and the war room is all about it.

Low Confidence in Zuckerberg?

Proving that Facebook wants to contain such activities is the need of the hour, especially when four United States Public Funds have proposed removing Mark Zuckerberg as CEO of the company.

These funds are looking for support from the larger asset managers. Zuckerberg is currently holding 60% voting rights according to the company filing in April. The latest strategy is also unlike Facebook since the social networking giant has always made sure to keep their strategies secret.

However, the 2016 U.S. Presidential elections changed everything. Now the Mark Zuckerberg led company is not just interested in curbing any such activity during the elections, but also show the world that they are making efforts. Samidh Chakrabarti, Facebook’s election and civic engagement boss stated that “We’ve been doing all this work virtually for two years. But when stuff needs to be done fast, there is no substitute for face-to-face contact.” Employees in the room are constantly looking for a sudden increase in hate speech and spam. Also, to achieve their goal, they have also deployed custom software for the same.

Looking for Spike in Scam

The team is also looking to identify false messages such as misinforming people about the delay in the election and so on.  Chakrabarti also mentioned that there is no alternative for the Physical, real-world interaction. He added that the organization has learned how important it is to have people in the same room altogether.

Whether or not ongoing efforts of the company would bloom remains to be seen. However, this might very well be the last few chances left with Facebook to prove that the company is serious about preventing hackers and spammers from influencing the democratic process in countries.
